MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES FOR STUDENTS ACT OF 2020

Dear Senator Padilla,

I am writing this letter to you as your constituent, expressing my deep concern about students’ mental health and well-being in the state of California. To combat this, the United States Congress has passed the Mental Health Services for Students Act of 2020 sponsored by Grace Napolitano of California's 31st Congressional District. This act would deliver comprehensive mental health services in schools, involving training staff to recognize signs of trauma, mental health issues, or suicide risk among students. This bill would also foster collaborative partnerships among families, students, law enforcement, education agencies, and various mental health and support service systems to ensure effective support and intervention for children in local communities. This help is desperately needed for students across the country and within our communities. By sponsoring this resolution in the Senate or a resolution with a similar agenda, you could help millions of students across the country who are struggling with their mental health.

Sincerely,

Your Constituent

STUDENT MENTAL HEALTH HELPLINE ACT

Dear Congressman Sherman,

I am writing this letter to you as your constituent, expressing my deep concern about students’ mental health and well-being in the state of California.

To combat this, the Student Mental Health Helpline Act would give schools the option to implement educational curricula, supported by the grant-funded helpline, aimed at destigmatizing mental illness. This would combat bullying, prevent domestic violence, reduce suicide rates, and address overall student mental health and safety concerns. These curricula serve as a proactive measure to foster a supportive environment and promote well-being among students

Sincerely,

Your Constituent

IMPROVING MENTAL HEALTH ACCESS FOR STUDENTS ACT

Dear Congressman Sherman,

I am writing this letter to you as your constituent, expressing my deep concern about students’ mental health and well-being in the state of California. The Improving Mental Health Access for Students Act mandates that institutions of higher education (IHEs) participating in federal student aid programs share suicide prevention resource contact information with students. If IHEs issue student identification cards, they must include phone numbers for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, the Crisis Text Line, and a campus mental health center or program; otherwise, they must prominently display these contact details on their websites.

Sincerely,

Your Constituent
